RCD provided full interior design services for this 275-unit mixed-use building in the heart of Uptown/Queen Anne, located right next to the Seattle Center. The six-story building was inspired by the historic brick buildings of Queen Anne, as well as the iconic mid-century modern style of Seattle Center, home to the Space Needle and 1962 World's Fair Expo. Expo is pursuing LEED Silver.
The interior finishes, giving a nod to the Mad Men era, include elements such as walnut veneer, travertine slab, Nelson bubble lamps, and even wallpaper that was designed in 1952. The color palette, inspired by colors found throughout the Seattle Center, was decidedly bright, including shades of green, red and blue. Expo's eclectic amenities include a demonstration kitchen, a coffee lounge and a library. Robin Chell Design was also retained to design the onsite leasing center and the model units.
