The Bullitt Foundation offices are located in The Bullitt Center, which is striving to be the greenest office building in North America. RCD was hired to complete the foundation's offices, which include the main lobby and conference rooms.
The interiors of this project were subject to the standards of the Living Building Challenge, and were subject to the most stringent environmental requirements (beyond LEED Platinum). Familiar products and interior design solutions were not acceptable for this project, so we knew that this project would be a great design challenge.
The original industrial feel of the space was softened with a more residential feeling, using finishes that were hand crafted by local tradesmen and artists. Customized flooring and wall treatments addressed the acoustic concerns in functional and playful ways.
