The Greenfire Campus represents a bold vision to create a unique, mixed-use community that is physically and socially sustainable. The result is one of the "greenest" new projects in the Pacific Northwest, and a vibrant new addition to the heart of Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.
RCD was chosen to design the interiors, which included both commercial offices and luxury residential units. The commercial interiors were designed to the equivalent of LEED Platinum, while the residential interiors adhered to LEED Gold standards. Interior spaces were oriented to maximize natural light and air circulation.
Interior finishes were locally sourced or sustainably manufactured wherever possible. Finishes included low or no VOC paints and carpets, bamboo hardwoods, and Environite, a solid surface countertop made of recycled glass and manufactured locally on Camano Island. RCD also incorporated Bolon, a plant-based flooring product, which achieved the highest rating for durability and water resistance.
