For the expansion and remodel of one of Seattle's most beloved Asian restaurants, RCD was given the direction that the new space should be elegant, fresh and modern, harmoniously blending traditional Asian-inspired elements with natural finishes found in the Pacific Northwest. In this respect, the interiors were designed to be a reflection of the restaurant's innovative cuisine.
The result is a vibrant and unique interior space that is clearly distinguished from the industrial aesthetic that has become so prevalent in other restaurants. Lush, soft layers of lighting are used to highlight features such as custom cherry blossum wall coverings, tile mosaic flooring and a natural stone bar back. A large, live-edge wooden bar complements the bright red lacquer bar shelves. Concrete flooring and metal details are found throughout.
Above the bar, a custom light fixture by local artist Kelly Woodward creates a playful and bold contrast to the elegant interior space.
